The first destination is Gyumri, the country's second largest city, in the province of Shirak. I'm staying with Sister Rebecca, from the same congregation as the sisters who organise the Tsaghkadzor camps, in their centre on the outskirts of the town.<\/p><p>During the few days I spent in the city, I discovered some magnificent works of art.<\/p><p>Vera takes me on a tour of the Entanik centre, which brilliantly trains young Armenians in various trades (cabinet-making, electronics, sewing, weaving, etc.). I was particularly fascinated by the talent of the young cabinet-makers, as well as the Armenian hope that can be found in almost every creation at the centre: the embroideries, engravings, sculptures and paintings are all imbued with the expectation of a united and peaceful future for the Armenian nation. Elle les re\u00e7oit dans la maison du pr\u00eatre qui habite le village, et les fait jouer avant de leur donner le cours. <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-size: 1rem;\">Le sourire lumineux de ces enfants est une lumi\u00e8re au coeur d&rsquo;un village si pauvre &#8211; o\u00f9 l&rsquo;on se sert de bouses de vaches s\u00e9ch\u00e9es comme combustible pour se chauffer et cuisiner.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-size: 1rem;\">L&rsquo;\u0153uvre qui me touche le plus est le centre Caritas pour les personnes ag\u00e9es, accueillant en journ\u00e9e les retrait\u00e9s isol\u00e9s de la ville.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-size: 1rem;\">C&rsquo;est, je crois, une des journ\u00e9es les plus lumineuses de ce reportage. Entre jeux de cartes, s\u00e9ances de danses improvis\u00e9es et grands sourires \u00e9clairant des visages radieux &#8230; l&rsquo;ambiance est si belle qu&rsquo;on en oublierait que ces personnes vivent dans des \u00ab\u00a0domiks\u00a0\u00bb en pr\u00e9-fabriqu\u00e9s, toujours pas remplac\u00e9s par de vraies maisons depuis le tremblement de terre de 1988. Merci \u00e0 Charlotte, volontaire de l&rsquo;\u0152uvre d&rsquo;Orient aupr\u00e8s de ce centre, qui me fait rencontrer ces personnes
